Bug #1467
closedHave UserVoice Show "Report a Bug" on pop-up
0%
Description
Per this ticket , our UserVoice pop-up used to look like this: http://redmine.gc.cuny.edu/attachments/143/Screen_shot_2011-06-01_at_12.35.43_AM.png . After our recent upgrade, it allows members to submit new ideas but not bug reports. Can we revert to the old settings so that it looks like the above image?

I just spent 15 minutes trying to find some documentation for how to customize this widget, but was unable to do so. I'll keep looking and make the requested changes when I can.

I looked into this a bit and like Boone, it took me awhile to find the appropriate documentation!
Apparently, you can switch the widget mode to allow this.
Read about point no. 4 in the following link:

However, we don't seem to have access to this feature.
I have contacted UserVoice to see if perhaps there's an oversight on their end.

Thank you, Ray -- please let us know what you hear.

Matt: I received an email from UserVoice. They say that we need to upgrade our account to "Full Service" to get that feature.
Here's a link to their plans:

Hmmm. Ray, can you take a quick look to see whether there is any way we can customize the tab ourselves with a link to our own contact us page? many thanks.

There doesn't appear to be a way to modify the contents of the widget to add tabs, etc.
Might want to look into alternatives.
Here are a few that I've tested, which come close to matching UserVoice:

I wonder how much trouble it would be to create a WP based alternative.

Much more trouble than we have the resources for at the moment. WP-based systems like this already exist, but would probably require significant modification to meet our requirements. If you want to explore the possibility of creating something from scratch, please open a separate enhancement ticket, which we can consider after CBox has been released.

Seeing as we've hit a dead end with this ticket due to UserVoice restrictions, I'm going to reject it.
See #1981 for discussion on a WP-based alternative.
