I've opened a new test site for the Open Press theme on cdev: https://op.cunyac.reclaimhosting.dev/

Most of the basic functionality is done, but some things are not.

• Newsletter footer. Need to know which service or plugin we want to utilize here. In the past, we have recommended TinyLetter and Jetpack's newsletter feature. See #18019 and #19680.
• Frontpage: Featured Author section. Will require writing a custom block.
• Frontpage: Awards section. Need more info about this. Would this be a post tagged with the Awards category or tag?
• Frontpage: Catalog section. Need to implement the search button. Perhaps this isn't necessary because we have the Catalog directory?
• Catalog directory: Need to finish the search functionality. Right now, I'm using built-in WordPress dropdown taxonomy blocks.
• Book page: Need to finalize the book meta information we want to use. I've implemented Publish Date, Discipline and Publisher. The other fields in the mockup have Level, Subject, License, but I'm not sure if we want to implement all of these or not. For Publisher and Discipline, I'm using post taxonomies since we will probably want users to view books by these types. I've also implemented custom author pages. This uses the Co-Authors Plus plugin. Sara, we might want to style the author and discipline/publisher archive pages differently. If we do, I can implement these changes once we're ready.
• About / Publish With Us pages: Need finalized content before I can work on this.
• Contact page: Uses the "Contact Form" block from the Otter Blocks plugin since it works nicely with the block editor. But there are limitations with the free plugin. The Contact Form will only email submissions and not save the content into the DB so they can be viewed in the admin dashboard. If having the contact submissions in the admin dashboard is important, I can switch to another contact form plugin like Contact Form 7, but we will lose the easy-to-arrange aspects of the block editor integration.

Matt / Sara, feel free to add those that are working on the Open Press site to this ticket so we can move forward.

I've changed the Open Press dev site's privacy settings so only logged-in users can view it. So the Open Press team will either need to create an account on the dev site or we could also create a new Commons account ourselves and pass them the account credentials if that would make things easier.
