Description
From Lisa Rhody (who is currently unable to log into Redmine):
I was working on updating pages on the website, when I realized that there is a new bug that has emerged on the GCDI site. For some reason, my name is being replaced with Patrick Sweeney's. You can see the error on the PDIG post from December: https://gcdi.commons.gc.cuny.edu/2025/12/22/call-for-applications-provosts-digital-innovation-grants/. The post is pulling the correct pronouns, but not the correct name. I have gone into the site and tried to update the value in the name field. As far as I can tell, this is not happening with other author names on the site.
- Status changed from Assigned to Reporter Feedback
The issue was due to having the Co-Authors Plus plugin activated on the GCDI site. Since it does not look like the plugin was in use, I deactivated it. Now Lisa's name is displaying as before.
If we want to use Co-Authors Plus on the GCDI site, we might have to make some changes to the theme to ensure that the correct author is displayed.
Great -- thanks so much, Ray!
Hi Ray - we would like to find a way to address this issue, where we have guest authors who are not members of the site in question. Chinmay (cc'ed here) found this plugin - https://wordpress.org/plugins/guest-author/ . Can you please check it out and see whether it might work for the Commons (ie, not a security risk, etc)?
Our goal is to have the author field on a blog post display the actual name of a guest author, who may not be a member of the site in question
Thanks in advance for your thoughts
I think we should stick with the Co-Authors Plus plugin and look to make adjustments to the existing GCDI theme so it displays the proper author when that plugin is activated. I'll look into this.
- Category name set to WordPress Plugins
- Status changed from Reporter Feedback to Staged for Production Release
- Target version set to 2.6.8
- Status changed from Staged for Production Release to Resolved
